LAU-NAE WINERY

Lau-Nae is a wonderful cabin style winery. During Christmas they have a huge tree decorated with all the trimmings, and of course a fire brewing in the chimney. During the summer they have live bands, pizza/wine specials, and in the fall a murder mystery show. One of the best things about this winery is that it is never packed. If you are new to wines, the pourer will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have and they are very willing to explain the wines on any level. They also have a nice gift shop with items from only local artists. Hand painted wine glasses, and etched bottles make wonderful souvenirs and gifts. I myself am very tempted to have my wedding invitation etched on a wine bottle made into a candle. An open floor plan and hospitable attitude makes Lau-Nae a fun and relaxing winery to visit.

WINE LIST

Red Wines

Cardinal Crest: A wonderful mix of merlot and carbenet sauvengon. This is a dry wine but not quite as dry as some merlots. This is wonderful with a nice ham. ***

French Colony:

Marechal Foch: 100% Marechal Foch. This wine is marketed as a good wine for those who are beginning to drink red wine, and is so true. Dry enough, but too much so. Smooth and easy. Great for casually drinking a red wine. ****

City Hall: This wine is made from concord grapes and a portion of the proceeds go to the presevation of the historic Red Bud city hall. This is the sweetest of the red wines, and quite grapey, though not bad. ***

White Wines

Prarie Gold:

Blossom City White:

Ella:

Blush & Fruit Wines

Creole Blush:

Blossom City Rose:

Blackberry: Wonderfully sweet wine. Good aroma, and great taste and finish. One of the best blackberry wines I have tasted. ****

Elderberry: Made with home grown elderberries. Took the gold in 2003 Florida Wine Competition. Quite nice if you like elderberry wine. ***

Olde Tyme Apple: If you like sweet apple wine this one is for you. Made with 10 different kinds of apples it is defiantly unique but delicious. ***

Peach-Honey: What a combination. This semi-sweet wine is made from Illinois peach and honey. It’s not as sweet as one may think, but it defiantly pleases the palette. ****

Limited/Seasonal Vintage

Serenity: This is Lau-Nae’s limited Christmas wine. It is a nice white wine, not too dry not too sweet. Goes excellent with any meal. ***
