PIASA WINERY

This riverside winery has such local flavor you can taste it the minute you walk in the door. The winery is named after the Piasa Bird of local legend. They have both house wines as well as wines from all over Missouri and Illinois. The winery is located on the historic Illinois Great River Road, a gorgeous trek along America’s mightiest river. Taste a few wines then grab a bottle, because the patio outside has a wonderful view of the Mississippi River. They even have live music on the weekends, and wonderful fresh locally made breads. The people are wonderful, and the atmosphere matches.

WINE LIST

Red Wines

Norton: Very nice dry wine. Quite oaky, but has a nice finish. He currant and cherry flavors pop right out. *** River Road Red: Not as dry as the Norton, but excellent. It’s a smooth, but semi-dry, fruity, but bodied. It’s one of their newer wines, and I hope they keep it on the list. **** Illinois Red:
White Wines

Chautauqua Chardonelle: One word, fabulous. Very nice white wine to have with a meal or just sitting on the porch. Vanilla seemed to be more prominent than most other flavors but still not overbearing. *** River Road White: Illini White: Excellent white wine. semi-sweet, and slightly fruity with a nice finish. *** Traminette: There is no doubt why this wine won best of show in the Illinois wine competition. Excellent aroma, and the pineapple flavor makes this semi-sweet a must try. ****
Blush & Fruit Wines

Bluff Side Blush: Oauquata: Very sweet and fruity wine. Very nice to just sit and drink on a nice day. ***
